Abstract

Framgangsmåte for tilvirking av selvbærende legemer ved realctiv infiltrering av et modermetall inn i et borlcarbid- materiale som kan inneholde et bor- og/eller et karbondonerende materiale. Den reaktive infiltrering resulterer typisk i en kompositt bestående av en borholdig forbindelse, en karbonholdig forbindelse og resterende metall, om enskelig. Massen som skal infiltreres kan inneholde en eller flere inerte fyller sammenblandet med borkarbid-materialet, den borholdige forbindelse og/eller karbon-holdige forbindelse. De relative mengder av reaktanter og prosessbetingelser kan endres eller kontrolleres til å gi et legeme som inneholder varierende volumprosenter av keramikk, metall, forhold mellom et keram og et annet samt porøsitet.
