Description
Oppfinnelsen vedrører en fremgangsmåte for fremstilling
av nålefUtmatter med forbedrede egenskaper. Oppfinnelsen om- . fatter også den nålefiltmatte som fremstilles i henhold til fremgangsmåten.
Ved konvensjonell fremstilling av nålefUtmatter kardes
den fiber som skal inngå i nålefUtmatten, til en viss overflatevekt, som vanligvis ligger mellom 300 og 600 g/m . Den karde-de fiber bindes deretter mekanisk i en nålemaskin. Ved.dette fås en nålefilt med relativt dårlige mekaniske egenskaper, og nålefilten bindes derfor kjemisk med et organisk bindemiddel av latekstype. Bindemidlet pålegges nålefilten vanligvis f.eks. ved metning i et bindemiddelkar, hvoretter nålefilten tørkes.
Den påførte mengde bindemiddel kan reguleres ved at man varie-rer tørrstoffinnholdet i bindemiddelsuspensjonen og ved at man presser ut bindemiddel etter metningsbadet. Vanligvis utgjør den mengde som kreves i nålefilten, opp til 20-30 % regnet på fibervekten.
En vanlig metode å drøye dyre bindemidler av latekstype på er.å tilsette uorganiske fyllstoffer, f.eks. kaolin, kritt, utfelt kiselsyre osv. Ved fremstilling av nålefUtmatter er dette imidlertid ubekvemt, da bindemidlet fordeles over hele mat-tens tverrsnitt, dvs. at bindemidlet vil inngå også i overflate-sjiktet. Ved nærvær av fyllstoffer av konvensjonell type i bindemidlet fås ved dette en uønsket opasitet i bindemidlet og én øket tendens til "kritting" (dvs. dannelse av hvite streker) på matten.
Det har nå overraskende vist seg at hvis bindemidlet, ved den kjemiske binding av nålefilten, kombineres med et fyllstoff som utgjøres av en alkalistabilisert kiselsyre, så kan de ulemper som finnes hos andre typer av fyllstoffer, reduseres eller elimi-neres helt, og man kan få en nålefiltmatte med klart forbedrede egenskaper.
I korthet innebærer fremgangsmåten i henhold til oppfinnelsen at en nålefiltmatte fremstilles ved at fibre kardes, at de karde-de fibre bindes mekanisk og kjemisk, hvorved det for den kjemiske binding anvendes en lateks av uorganisk bindemiddel, eventuelt i kombinasjon med konvensjonelle tilsetningsstoffer, samt at den oppnådde matte tørkes, hvorved fremgangsmåten erkarakterisertved at bindemidlet med eventuelle konvensjonelle tilsetnings stoffer foreligger i kombinasjon med alkalistabilisert kiselsyre med partikkelstørrelse 1-100 nm.

I henhold til oppfinnelsen kan man for fremstilling av nålef Utmatten utnytte slike fibre som konvensjonelt anvendes i denne sammenheng. Foretrekkes syntetiske fibre, f.eks. polypropylen, nylon og akryl. Likeledes anvendes i henhold til oppfinnelsen slike bindemiddel-latekser som kan anses konvensjonelle i denne sammenheng. Spesielt egnede bindemidler er SBR, poly-. akrylat, polyakrylnitril, hvorved det vanligste bindemiddel er SBR på grunn av dets relativt lave pris.
De konvensjonelle tilsetningsstoffer som kan tilsettes til lateksen, kan utgjøres av flammehindrende midler, antistatiske midler osv.
Den kiselsyre som anvendes i kombinasjon med bindemiddel-lateksen ved fremgangsmåten i henhold til oppfinnelsen, utgjøres av en såkalt alkalistabilisert kiselsyresol. Denne type av kiselsyre er kjent fra tidligere og utmerker seg ved meget små polymolekylære partikler i vann (kolloider), idet disse partikler er stabilisert med en liten mengde alkali i form av Na^^O, K2O, Li20 eller ammoniakk. Kiselsyrepartiklene kan være av stør-relsesorden 1-100 nm. De beste resultater er hittil oppnådd med partikkelstørrelser under 10 nm. Kiselsyren inngår i lateksen i en mengde av 1-30 vekt% tørr SiO^ytørr.polymer, og et spesielt foretrukket område er 5-20 vekt%.
Det har i henhold til oppfinnelsen uventet vist seg at til-setning av den definerte alkalistabiliserte kiselsyresol til bindemidlet gir en vesentlig forbedring hva angår den ferdige mattes slitasjeresistens. En annen fordel med denne type fyllstoff er det at bindemidlets transparens ikke påvirkes negativt og at det ikke forekommer noen tendens til krittingpå matten. At kolloi-dal kiselsyre i form av den angitte alkalistabiliserte kiselsyresol er overlegen i denne henseende beror sannsynligvis på at ki- . selsyren utgjøres av meget små partikler som for synlig lys
sprer seg lite (mindre enn 100 nm), idet disse partikler er jevnt fordelt i bindemidlet, hvorved bindemidlets transparente utseende bibeholdes. Fremgangsmåten i henhold til oppfinnelsen gjør det også mulig drastisk å senke bindemiddelinnholdet i nålefiltmat-ten med opprettholdte og/eller til og med forbedrede egenskaper.
Ved en sådan konvensjonell fremstilling av nålef Utmatter,
hvor relativt høye innhold av bindemiddel anvendes, kan man f.eks. ved å tilsette små mengder, f.eks. 10-20 vekt%, av alkalistabilisert kiselsyre i henhold til oppfinnelsen, senke mengden av konvensjonelt bindemiddel med opp til 50 vekt%. Den alkalistabiliserte kiselsyre i henhold til oppfinnelsen ville derfor kunne betraktes som et "hjelpebindemiddel" istedenfor et konvensjonelt fyllstoff. Dette innebærer at man ved anvendelse av den angitte kiselsyre kan nedsette produksjonsomkostnigene for nålef Utmatten.
Oppfinnelsen skal i det følgende belyses ved eksempler.
EKSEMPEL 1
En filt ble kardet av polypropylenfiber (100 mm fiberleng-de) til en overflatevekt på 400 g/m 2 og ble mekanisk bundet ved nåling. Et lateksbad ble tilberedt ved at 500 g SBR-lateks
(50 %ig) ble fortynnet med 700 ml vann, hvorved lateksbadets tørrstoffinnhold ble 21 %. Nålefilten fikk sakte passere lateks-badet og ble forsiktig presset mellom to valser, hvoretter den ble tørket i varm luft ved 120°C.
Overflatevekten etter tørking var 520 g/m 2, hvilket tilsva-rer 30 % SBR-bindemiddel regnet på fibervekten. Slitasjeegenska-pene ble bestemt i henhold til Lisson-testen (SIS 832533) og var 3,4.
EKSEMPEL 2
Det ble tilberedt et lateksbad ved at 200 g SBR-lateks
(50 %ig) ble fortynnet med 900 ml vann, hvoretter 100 g alkalistabilisert kiselsyresol (15 %ig) med en kolloidstørrelse på 6 mm ble tilsatt. Tørrstoffinnholdet ble da knapt 10 % og Si02~innholdet 15 % regnet på tørr SBR-polymer. En nålefilt ble imp-regnert og tørket som angitt i eksempel 1. Overflatevekten etter tørking ble 465 g/m 2, dvs. at 16 % Si02-modifisert SBR-bindemiddel, regnet på fibervekten, var opptatt.
Prøve■på slitasjeresistens viste at matten med alkalistabilisert kiselsyresol, på tross av at mengden av bindemiddel var den halve, hadde bedre slitasjeresistens enn matten i henhold til eksempel 1.
Matten viste til og med noe lavere statisk oppladning og noe høyere smussresistens sammenlignet med matten i henhold til eksempel 1.
Slitasjetest i henhold til SIS 832533 ga en beregnet verdi på 4,1, dvs. at kvaliteten på matten hadde økt med nesten en klasse (i henhold til NCC-systemet), på tross av at bindemiddelinnholdet i matten var redusert til halvparten. Noen øket kritt-tendens kunne ikke påvises hos matten.
Claims (8)
1. Fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av en nålefiltmatte, hvorved syntetiske fibre bindes mekanisk og kjemisk, hvorved for den kjemiske binding de syntetiske fibre behandles med en lateks av et organisk bindemiddel og eventuelle konvensjonelle tilsetningsstoffer, samt hvorved den oppnådde matte tørkes, karakterisert ved at det anvendes en lateks som inneholder 1-30 vekt% kiselsyre, regnet som tørr SiC^/ tørt organisk bindemiddel, i form av en alkalistabilisert kiselsyresol som har en partikkelstørrelse på 1-100 nm.
2. Fremgangsmåte som angitt i krav 1, karakte-' risert ved at det anvendes en alkalistabilisert kiselsyresol som har et molforhold' mellom SiC>2 og NH^ eller M2 0, hvor M betegner Na, K eller Li,på 5-500 og en partikkelstørrelse på 2-50 nm.
3. Fremgangsmåte som angitt i krav 1 eller 2, karakterisert ved at det anvendes syntetiske fibre som utgjøres av polypropylen eller nylon.
4. Fremgangsmåte som angitt i et av kravene 1 til 3, karakterisert ved at det anvendes et organisk bindemiddel som utgjøres av SBR, polyakrylat eller polyakrylnitril.
5. Fremgangsmåte som angitt i et av kravene 1 til 4, karakterisert ved at det organiske bindemiddel påføres fibrene ved impregnering i et metningsbad.
6. Fremgangsmåte som angitt i et av kravene 1 til 5, karakterisert ved at det anvendes en alkalistabilisert kiselsyresol som har en partikkelstørrelse på 2-10 nm.
7. Nålefiltmatte som omfatter syntetiske fibre, organisk bindemiddel samt eventuelle konvensjonelle tilsetningsstoffer, karakterisert ved at også inneholder 0,1-12 vekt% alkalistabilisert kiselsyre regnet som tørr Si02 på tørr
syntetisk fiber med en partikkelstørrelse mellom 1 og 100 nm.
8. Nålefiltmatte som angitt i krav 7, karakte-, risert ved at den inneholder 0,5-8 vekt% alkalistabilisert kiselsyre.
