Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for implementering av en smart antenne ved etablering av en assosiasjon mellom en stasjon (STA) og et aksesspunkt (AP) i et trådløst lokalnett begynner med å sende en fyrsignalramme fira AP på en anteimestråle. Denne fyrsignakammen mottas av STA, som måler fyrsignalraimnens signalkvalitet. AP veksler om til en annen anteimestråle og gjentar fremgangsmåten til fyrsignakammen er blitt sendt på alle anteimestiåler. STA assosierer seg til det AP som sender fyrsignakammen med den høyeste signalkvaliteten på en av sine anteimestråler. En tilsvarende firemgangsmåten kan bli brukt i hvilken STA sender en sondeanmodningsramme til AP, som så svarer med sondesvarrammer sendt på flere anteimestråler.
