Abstract
En kompakt katalytisk reaktor omfatter en stabel av plater (72,74,75) til å definere et mangfold av første og andre strømningskanaler anordnet alternerende i stabelen; hver strømningskanal hvori en kjemisk reaksjon skal finne sted er definert ved gjennomgående kanaler tvers over minst en plate, idet hver slik gjennomgående kanal inneholder en fjernbar gasspermeat-katalysatorstruktur (80) som innlemmer et metallsubstrat. De første strømningskanaler (76) er orientert i en retning som er perpendikulær på den til de andre strømningskanaler (77), og mellom suksessive andre strømningskanaler i stabelen definerer reaktoren minst tre side-ved-side første strømningskanaler (76); og reaktoren innlemmer strømnings omledningsmidler (80; 88) slik at det første fluidet må strømme gjennom minst tre slike første strømningskanaler (76) i rekkefølge, ved strømning fra et innløp til et utløp. De totale strømningsveier kan derfor være omtrent medstrøms eller motstrøms.
