Abstract

En fremgangsmåte for å bestemme spenning og strøm som kreves for tilføring av spesifikke og selektive elektriske og elektromagnetiske signaler til sykelig leddbrusk ved behandling av slitasjegikt, bruskdefekter på grunn av trauma eller sportsskade eller brukt som et supplement til andre terapier (celletransplantasjon, vevsoppbygning, vekstfaktorer osv.) for behandling av bruskdefekter i det menneskelige kneledd og en anordning for å levere slike signaler til en pasients kne. En analytisk modell av det menneskelig kne er utviklet, hvorved det totale vevvolum i det menneskelige kne kan bestemmes for sammenligning med det totale vevvolum av det sykelige vev i denne animalske modell ved å bruke elektriske felt- og strømtetthetshistogrammer. Spenning og strøm brukt i den animalske modell blir skalert basert på forholdet mellom det totale vevvolum av det sykelige vev i mennesket og det totale vevvolum av det sykelige vev i den animalske modell og det resulterende felt blir tilført det ødelagte vev hos mennesket ved å bruke minst to elektroder tilført i kneet eller en spole eller en solenoid plassert rundt kneet. Spenningen og signalet tilført elektrodene, spolen eller solenoiden varieres basert på størrelsen av kneleddet, idet større kneledd krever større spenninger for å generere det effektive elektriske felt.
