Abstract

Foreliggende oppfinnelse tilveiebringer en fremgangsmåte for fjerning av biofilm, flokkulent masseformig slam eller masseformig biologisk aktivt slam fra et vandig system. Fremgangsmåten omfatter tilsetning av ett eller flere klorerte hydantoiner, så som diklor- eller monoklordialkyihydantoin, til det vandige systemet. Alternativt kan det klorerte hydantoinet dannes in situ ved å tilsette en klorkilde og et alkylert hydantoin adskilt til det vandige systemet. Oppfinnelsen er spesielt nyttig på grunn av den enestående fotostabiliteten til løsningene av klorert hydantoin selv ved eksponering for sollys.
