Description
Anordning ved elektriske motstandselementer. Device for electrical resistance elements.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår en anordning ved elektriske motstandselementer for elektriske ovner bestemt for temperaturer over 1000° C, og fortrinsvis opp til minst 1400° C. The present invention relates to a device for electric resistance elements for electric ovens designed for temperatures above 1000°C, and preferably up to at least 1400°C.
Det har tidligere vært foreslått ved slike It has previously been proposed by such
Ved sterk opphetning dannes det på slike motstandselementer som følge av innvirkning av luftens oksygen, et overflateskikt av silisiumdioksyd som ved høy temperatur er noe plastisk og klebende og sintrer sammen til en gasstett hinne som hindrer ytterligere oksydasjon av elementets indre. temperatures to use resistance elements which, by means of powder metallurgical processes, are produced mainly from silicides, in particular molybdenum silicide with any residual oxides, carbides such as silicon carbide and borides, under which the metal atom, apart from molybdenum, can be - extraction of one or more of the elements Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Ta and Cr. During strong heating, a surface layer of silicon dioxide is formed on such resistance elements as a result of the impact of the air's oxygen, which at high temperatures is somewhat plastic and sticky and sinters together to form a gas-tight film that prevents further oxidation of the element's interior.
Motstandselementer av slikt materiale Resistance elements of such material
har en begrenset mekanisk holdfasthet slik at man hittil har hatt valget mellom enten å understøtte dem på flere steder eller utføre dem med en lengde som ofte er altfor kort i forhold til forekommende ovnsdimensjoner. have a limited mechanical holding strength, so that until now you have had the choice between either supporting them in several places or making them with a length that is often far too short in relation to the existing oven dimensions.
If one then tries to support an element of the above type in the manner usual for metallic resistance elements, directly on the furnace's refractory lining, this results in the elements sticking to the lining and being pulled to pieces by temperature changes, as they are not freely movable. In addition to the influence of the silicon dioxide film, the sticking may be due to the fact that the element material is often inclined to react chemically with the substrate, forming reaction products that have a lower softening temperature than the element's operating temperature. It should be pointed out below that the gluing in and of itself has no connection with the degree of fire resistance of the lining.
In order to avoid this disadvantage, attempts have been made to mount the elements cantilevered, so that no contact occurs between the elements and the lining material within the heating zones of the elements. However, this means that great demands must be made on the mechanical strength of the elements, which can lead to dimensions that are not appropriate from an electrical point of view.
The present invention aims to avoid this disadvantage and consists in the main features in that the element, which essentially consists of silicides, in particular molybdenum silicide with any residual oxides, carbides and borides, rests loosely on a layer which only partially touches the element and consists of Relatively movable grains of refractory electrical insulating material which are also chemically resistant to the material in the resistance element at operating temperature. In this way, the elements are well supported and the layer prevents them from sticking to the oven lining. The layer grains should have such a refractoriness that free movement between the individual grains is maintained at least at 1000° C. and in any case up to the operating temperature. Ideally, the grains should be free to move up to a temperature of at least 1400° C. As the layer material is chemically resistant to the material in the elements, these are prevented from being destroyed at the places where they touch the layer. By the fact that the electrical resistance of the layer material is sufficiently high, any leakage currents in the layer are prevented from damaging the elements at the contact points between the layer and the element. Due to the other requirements placed on the material in the layer with regard to fire resistance and chemical resistance, there is usually no difficulty in simultaneously satisfying the requirement for high electrical resistance.
Elementet befris herved for ska-delige mekaniske påkjenninger. During operation, some grains in the part of the layer that is closest to the elements will stick to the silicon oxide layer thereon. As the elements change their length at varying temperatures, the stuck grains are pulled along with the element and thus slide along the easily moving grains in the layer that are not stuck to the element. The element is thereby freed from harmful mechanical stress.
According to the invention, it is appropriate for the layer to consist of one or more of the substances silicic acid, silicon carbide or aluminum silicate. Particularly good results have been achieved with a layer of mullite or sillimanite. However, the invention is not limited to layer material of this composition, but any heat-resistant material with high electrical conduction resistance can be used. However, the layer material must consist of substances which, even at the highest operating temperature, are chemically indifferent to the material in the resistance element, so that it prevents the formation of reaction products. The substances which according to the broadest scope of the invention can be included in the resistance layer are carbides, borides, silicides, silicates and oxides, individually or in combination with each other.
The grains in the layer should, for the most part, be round or at least have rounded edges and corners, so that they can easily move in relation to each other. The grains should consist of a material sieved into specific grain fractions, for example with different sieves, carried out according to Tyler's Standard sieve scale, under which the grains in each layer should belong to the same grain fraction, for example between two delimited mesh values, or at least grain fractions that are close to each other, e.g. a fraction with grain sizes from 2.3 — 3.3 mm (6 — 8 mesh) and a fraction with grain sizes 3.3 — 4.7 mm (4 — 6 mesh). Here it should be observed that the average size of the grains is adjusted so that the support of the element is satisfactory. It has been found that if the layer is to fulfill the function it is intended for, the thickness should be at least 2 times the average diameter of the grains included in the layer. In general, the grain size of the layer's particles should be between 0.1 and 10 mm.
It has been shown that if the resistance elements according to the invention are supported, these can also be used in connection with oven linings which, upon direct contact, would have a destructive effect on the elements. With the help of the present invention, it is thus possible to use lining material of standard quality, chosen solely with regard to fire resistance and without regard to the material's possible tendency to react chemically with the material in the elements at high temperatures.
Forskjellige praktiske utførelsesformer for elementenes montering i ovner er vist på vedlagte tegninger, hvor Different practical designs for the elements' installation in ovens are shown on the attached drawings, where

At the one in fig. In the embodiment shown in 1 and 2, the base 1 and the side walls 2 - 5 are made of refractory material. On the bottom is placed a layer 6 of grains consisting of aluminum silicate with the approximate composition 65% Ah.Os and 35% SiC-2. Halfway immersed in the layer rests a resistance element 7 consisting of 95% molybdenum silicide (MoSi2) and the rest of oxides and silicates. At the ends, the element is made with thickened connection parts 8 a, 8 b, which are threaded through holes in the wall 2. The actual high-temperature heating zone is formed by the narrow part of the element 7, while the connection parts 8 a, 8 b, due to their larger cross-sectional area has a significantly lower temperature.
Instead of letting the layer material consist of aluminum oxide and silicic acid in the form of aluminum silicate, pure silicon carbide can be used in the form of grains with a size of 2 - 5 mm. It is appropriate to use the so-called light green silicon carbide, as this is the purest form that occurs technically.
Alternatively, another layer material may be present, namely 4 mm spheres produced by powder metallurgy, containing in very finely ground form 15% by weight of MoSb and 85% by weight of silicon carbide.
As a further design example, a case can be mentioned where the resistance element 7 consists of 90 weight percent MoSb, 5 weight percent chromium boride (CrB) and the rest binder as well as the layer 6 of crushed pure quartz in the form of exposed grains with a size of 3 — 4 mm.
If the layer is again made up of pure aluminum oxide (AkOii) instead of the stated aluminum silicate, it turns out that it forms silicate with the element's silicon, which causes the element to become poorer in this substance and is thereby destroyed. Such a choice of layer material thus contravenes the established condition that the layer material must be chemically resistant to the element's material.
At the one in fig. 3 and 4, the refractory wall 10 is arranged on the inside of the support crucible 11 and on its side facing the oven is provided with shelves 12, 13, etc. On these are layers 14, 15, etc. arranged and in these rest two parts 7 a, 7 b of the resistance element. These are connected with a free-supporting transition part 7 c. In fig. 3 shows the wider connection parts 8 c and 8 d.
In the embodiment according to fig. 5 - 8 which is intended for horizontal installation, the hairpin-shaped bent resistance element 21 rests on a layer 31 inserted in the tube 20 of piece-shaped, refractory and chemically resistant, electrically insulating material opposite the material in the resistance element, also at operating temperature. The electrical resistance of the layer 31 is so high that the formation of significant leakage currents is prevented. As stated above, the material in the layer has such a refractoriness that the individual grains retain their mutual mobility even at the highest occurring temperatures, thereby ensuring that the resistance element can move freely in relation to the support pipe during heating and cooling.
The supply lines 25 of the resistance element 21, which have an increased cross-sectional area, are passed through and fill holes in a plug 26 which closes the tube 20 at the corresponding end and is made of ceramic material.
In fig. 9 and 10, 40 denotes the lower half of the ceramic liner and 41 the upper half. 42 denotes a ceramic tube which is inserted into the furnace lining and delimits the furnace space 43. In the lower half 40 of the lining, a plurality, in the case shown 6, axially extending open grooves 44 are occupied, each forming a shelf. On the bottom of each track or shelf 44 is placed a layer 45 of piece-shaped, refractory and opposite the material in the resistance element, chemically resistant even at operating temperature, electrically insulating material of the nature stated above. On the various layers 45 rest the rectilinear parts 46 of a resistance element which is led in windings and which is bent in its longitudinal direction along a cylindrical surface. The two uppermost grooves or shelves 44 are formed in the branch surface between the lower and upper halves 40 and 41 of the insert. The resistance element's supply lines 47, which have a larger cross-sectional area than the actual resistance line 46, are introduced through holes in the rear wall 48 of the oven. the oven's front wall 49, the oven opening 50 is arranged. This can be closed in the usual way using a hatch not shown. The curved resistance element is inserted into the grooves 44 before the ceramic tube 42 is pushed into place. The resistance winding can conveniently be removed for replacement or repair after the ceramic tube 42 has first been pulled out of the furnace.
