Abstract

The equipment supplies electric power by means of a generator coupled to a variable-speed drive unit. The generator is an alternator, coupled to a hydraulic motor supplied by a pump couled to the drive unit. The motor or alternator has a speed-sensitive unit connected to a governor regulating the amount of fluid, so as to keep the alternator speed constant. The pump can be of the variable-output type, regulated by the governor, or alternatively of fixed output, the control mechanism being in the pipe between it and the motor and discharging surplus fluid.
