Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten the time of warming-up, by dividing a cooling water passage into two sections for the high and low temperature parts of an engine and providing water pumps in the divided passages and by driving only the water pump in the high temperature part cooling passage when the temperature of the engine is below a set level. CONSTITUTION:A cooling water passage 2 is divided into a first and a second cooling water passages 2a, 2b for respectively cooling the high temperature part 1A and low temperature part 1B of an engine 1. Water pumps 6a, 6b are installed in the passages 2a, 2b. The pumps 6a, 6b are driven with belts 9a, 9b by electric motors 10a, 10b, the drive of which is regulated by a controller 8 on the basis of output of a temperature sensor 11 which detects the temperature of the engine 1. When the temperature of the engine is below a set level, the second water pump 6b is stopped and only the first water pump 6a is driven to supply cooling water to the first cooling water passage 2a.
