Abstract

The union used between two pipe ends, has a ring with a spherical outer surface fixed to one pipe and engaging in a mating socket on the other. To secure the ring axially in relation to the socket, a ring with a spherical inner surface bears against it and is fixed to the socket. A wear-resistant guide comprising two parts (5, 6) joined together axially, is fitted against the inside of the socket (4) and its surface towards the ring has a complementary spherical surface working against the latter. The portion of the guide away from the ring can be harder than that towards it, the respective Brinell values being approx. 550 and 270.
