Abstract

The pipe connection comprises a hollow pin on which a muff unit is pushed in a telescopic manner. In the joined together state, a blunt conical inner surface of the muff covers over a similarly shaped outer surface of the pin part. The blunt conical surfaces are provided with ring grooves (7) and projections (11) which can engage with each other, thus enabling the pin and muff to lock together. The projections and grooves with intermediary axial clearance extend over the total axial length of the blunt conical surfaces of the pin (1) and muff (3). Dependent upon the axial dimensions and clearances, the conicity angle of the blunt conical surfaces is so selected that on putting pin and muff together, metallic commencement contact occurs between a specific projection and a specific area between the grooves near to the grooves in which this projection will finally engage.
