Abstract

The tank which has end frames squared off in angle-section metal so that tanks can be stacked, is of cylindrical type having external, longitudinal stringers joining the end frames and serving to restrain deflection during lifting or longitudinal stressing of the tank, as well as internal cross-members to stiffen the shell against deflecting outward under internal pressure. The cross-members are now extended through the shell and fastend to the stringers to increase rigidity and reduce reinforcing material.
