Abstract

The wind energy recovery unit comprises a number of identical units mounted alongside each other, and in each of which a propeller blade assembly rotates under the action of the wind flowing through, means being included to transmit the rotary energy from the assemblies. Each unit is an open duct (110), hexagonal on the outside at the inlet and outlet (102, 103), while the middle portion is of circular section on the inside, forming a throat, in which the propeller assembly (107) is mounted. The duct can be of concrete, or comprise a cloth-on plate-clad assembly of bars. The leading edge of the inlet end can be thinned down, while for the rest of the tube length the distance between inside and outside faces can be as nearly constant as possible.
