Abstract

The machine is driven by a current of air or water, having a rotor on an axis at right angles to the main flow direction, and a guide round the rotor. The guide has blades (12) extending tangentially in relation to the rotor (6), and at the maximum setting adjacent blades enclose a cross-section (through which the current flows) which is narrower at their edges (16) nearest the rotor than at those (17) furthest from it. The blade edges furthest from the rotor can be parallel to its axis of rotation.
