Abstract

The reinforcements are used in reinforced concrete beams and similar structures. They are made from bars and comprise upper and lower stringers (1, 2) parallel to each other and joined by spacers (3) between. The stringers are bent from continuous lengths to a zigzag shape. This may have straight sides meeting at points, or be a sinusoidal shape with curved sides and radiused points. The spacers are similarly bent, to give straight or curved forms, and each point (P2) is welded to the corresponding upper or lower stringer. The pitch (Lb) between zigzags of the stringers is at least twice that (La) of the spacers.
