Girders and beams; reinforced concrete; floors; roofs; reinforced-concrete girders, floors, and roofs. - Trussed girder-like elements applicable also as reinforcements for concrete and comprising upper and lower chords and diagonal web bracing are formed from a single continuous length of rod. bar, or strip metal-bent in zig-zag manner to form alternately chord and web members and with the junctions welded or otherwise connected. Fig. 1 shows a simple truss, two of which may be placed side by side with the diagonals crossing and the whole, spotwelded together. Separate flanges, Fig. 6, may be riveted to or interengaged with the chords, and two or more coplanar trusses may be assembled together as gratings, Fig. 9. In another form, the truss is made with stronger chords by overlapping alternate chord portions either wholly as shown in Figs. 14 and 15, or partially, the web bracings crossing at one or more points. Panels for supporting or reinforcing floors and roofs are formed by assembling the elements in rows as shown in Fig. 10, and connecting them by transverse upper and lower bars. Three of the elements may be assembled to form a triangular prismatic structure. In the panel shown in Fig. 13, strips of sheet material either plain or perforated, metal laths, or expanded metal are provided with interengaging hinge-like loops through which are passed rods to connect the elements.
