Abstract

Non-linear metal oxide prod., esp. a varistor, consists of a sintered combination of (1) approx. 98 mole % ZnO, (2) Bi2O3, (3) Co3O4, (4) MnO2 and (5) Sb2O3, XnO2, Ta2O5 and/or Nb2O5, the ratio of the mole % (5): mole % (2) being not greater than 1/3. The resistor has well defined discharge voltage curves, high non-linear coeffts. (alpha), low leakage currents (IL) and discharge voltages. Crystal size, and hence properties, can be controlled by varying the contents of the components.
