Abstract

High octane gasoline is produced by contacting a feedstock comprising (a) >=lower aliphatic organic cpd. contg. =8 C atoms in its longest hydrocarbon chain, and >=1 heteroatom collected from N, O, S and halogen, and (b) a hydrocarbon fraction with a RON (clear) of 85, at 205-540 degrees C with an aluminosilicate zeolite catalyst with a SiO2=AlO3 rtio of 12=1, a "restriction index" of 1-12 and a crystal density of 1.6 g/cm3; and isolating a roduct boiling in the gasoline range with a RON higher than that of the hydrocarbon part of the feedstock, the product contg. a major part of the carbon content of the feedstock. The use of a mixed feedstock has a synergistic effect on the gasoline yield, i.e. the yield from each component is higher than if components (a) and (b) are converted separately, and improves the volatility characteristics of the gasoline prodt. The RON is higher than if either component is converted on its own and then mixed with the other component.
