Abstract

The platform (11) moves up and down on two masts (5, 6) mounted near the centre line of a chassis (1) on wheels (2, 3) and it can protrude beyond the masts at the ends. There can be a rack on each mast, with which there meshes a pinion driven via a gearbox from a motor on the platform, the two gearboxes being coupled by an intermediate shaft. Lever-operated locking devices can be provided, engaging between the platform and the masts, the levers being parallel with the masts when engaged and with the platform when freed. Shields can be provided on the platform, enclosing the masts and clear of them.
