Abstract

1423144 Fork lift truck CLECO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd 24 Aug 1973 40293/72 Headings B8H and B8B A fork lift truck with a rotatable and traversable mast comprises a chassis 4 with a framework 18 which acts as a guard for the operator of the truck and includes transverse rails 28, 30, 32 along which a carriage 6 is traversed. An arm 36 with a segment-shaped counterweight 40 is rotatable about an axis 34, by an hydraulic motor coupled to a chain 44 extending around the counterweight, and carries a roller 38 in engagement with a channel 58 secured to the carriage, whereby to traverse same across the truck. The carriage has forwardly extending arms 46 which support a mast 8 for rotation by an hydraulic actuator (not shown) and is connected at upper and lower positions to chains 60, 62 extending around pulleys 68, 74 whereby the carriage remains vertical as it traverses the truck. The mast may have one, two or three sections. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown), the chains (60) (62) are replaced by a shaft with pinions at each end which engage racks on the rails (28), (30) and the counterweight (112) is slidable on the front axle of the truck and coupled by a chain (110) to the carriage to move in unison but in opposite directions therewith.
