Abstract

A tailboard lift, particularly for an enclosed motor van, has a tailboard (6) with hinges (7) so that it can be moved between horizontal and vertical positions. The tailboard is supported by an arm (5) each side attached at the top to wheeled carriages (3) which are raised and lowered along nearly vertical side struts (1) secured inside the body. The carriages (3) are attached to cables (9) which travel vertically upwards, pass over pulleys (11) at the top then down again to further pulleys mounted on a vertical hydraulic jack (15) at one side. When the jack extends, the drive pulleys are pushed down, the carriages raised, and the tailboard lifted.
