Abstract
1,254,387. Warehousing apparatus. EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc. 1 May, 1970 [5 May, 1969], No. 21113/70. Heading B8E. A stacker truck 2, Fig. 1, has a carriage 6 which runs on rails 8 and is driven by a friction wheel 128, Fig. 3, journalled on a pivoted arm 124 which supports the drive motor 114 for the wheel 128. The stacker is electrically driven, power being supplied by a wire carried in a floor channel, and is controlled by a cable 40, Fig. 2A (not shown), with a three-brush pick-up. Electric motors on the stacker drive hydraulic pumps, the outputs of which are controlled to effect movements of the platform and of the driving wheels. Motor/pump combination 60 raises and lowers the platform 20, whilst the motor/pump combination 100 drives the wheels 128. A shuttle 22, Fig. 8, is driven into the racks by a motor 154. The movement of the shuttle is effected by fixed and movable racks 170, 172 and pinions 168. A load 151 is withdrawn or pushed into the racks by lugs 24 which are automatically projected or withdrawn each time the shuttle is fully extended. The stacker may be controlled by an operator riding on a platform 54, Fig. 2, instead of by a central computer.
