Abstract

One end of a first arm hinges in the open position on an axis parallel with that of the opening portion on a second arm, while its other end hinges on a second axis on a first mounting. The other end of the second arm hinges on a third axis parallel to the first and at a distance from it in the folded position on a second mounting. The first mounting swings on a fourth axis at right angles to the first three in the window frame, and the second one on a fifth axis, likewise at right angles to the first three, in the opening portion. In the folded position the fourth and fifth axes are at right angles to the first three, in the opening portion. In the folded position the fourth and fifth axes are at right angles to the surface of the opening portion, so that the two arms run parallel to its surface. In one position they can be extended to open the window and the axes intersect the hinge axis at right angles, and from this position they can be swung through an angle to one where a locking device secures them and holds the window shut.
