Abstract

Organic materials with free OH gps. capable of reacting with triazine halogen atoms can be protected against fungi, and other organisms, by treatment firstly (a) with a 2,4-dihalo-1,3,5-triazine substd. at the 6-postn. with a biocidal residue (I), pref. an organometallic residue, and then (b) with a base, pref. aqueous alkali. Preferred (I) are of formula: (where R1, R2 and R3 are aliphatic and/or aromatic residues, pref. bonded with Sn via C atoms, and n = 2 or 3), and esp. 6-(3'-diphenyl-bromotinpropoxy)-2,4-dichlorotriazine.
