Abstract

A process for the prodn. of granular monoammonium phosphate (I) by reacting about stoichiometric proportions of liquid ammonia and liquid H3PO4 in a reaction zone, the liquid ammonia being under sufficient pressure to maintain it in the liquid state and the H3PO4 being under at least 50 p.s.i.g., the resulting molten I being impelled through space whereby it solidifies in flight to form a granular product. Fertilizer. Simple, cheap process with minimum recycle requirements. The product is finely divided and free-flowing.
