Abstract

Provided is a magnetic-disk substrate according to which no foreign matter remains on a magnetic layer of a main surface on which a film has been formed. A magnetic-disk substrate includes a first inclined surface formed outward of the main surface of the substrate, a second inclined surface that connects the first inclined surface and a side wall surface of the substrate, and a ridge line formed by the first inclined surface and the second inclined surface, and the ridge line is provided inward of the main surface in a thickness direction of the substrate.
