Abstract
La invencion se refiere a un metodo para la recuperacion de metales, en particular cobre, a partir de una materia prima que contiene cobre, por medio del cual el material es lixiviado en una solucion que contiene cloruro. La lixiviacion de la materia prima es realizada en forma oxidativa y aun potencial redox suficientemente elevado que el cobre que se encuentra en la solucion de cloruro procedente de la lixiviacion es principalmente divalente. La solucion de cloruro obtenida, la cual contiene cobre y potencialmente otros metales valiosos, es alimentada a una extraccion liquido-liquido. En la extraccion el cobre es primero transferido a la fase organica con extraccion y posteriormente a una solucion de sulfato en la desorcion, la cual se alimenta a la extraccion de cobre por via electrolitica.
