Abstract

Se describe un material cristalino suficientemente puro para el uso en productos farmaceuticos, que puede ser elaborado mediante la formacion de una solucion saturada del material, cambiando la temperatura de la solucion conforme esta se vuelve supersaturada, y sometiendo brevemente la solucion a irradiacion por ultrasonido de alta intensidad, antes de permitir que la solucion se enfrie gradualmente sin irradiacion adicional. El ultrasonido puede ser aplicado utilizando un recipiente con un arreglo de transductores ultrasonicos acoplados a una pared, de modo que cada transductor radia no mas de 3 W/cm2, incluso la disipacion de energia del recipiente esta entre 25 y 150 W/litro. Este metodo puede reducir la anchura de la zona metaestable a menos de 10 K. No existe erosion de la pared y en consecuencia ninguna formacion de las particulas metalicas pequenas. Este es aplicable por ejemplo al aspartame y a los aminoacidos.
