Abstract

Un método para tratar enfermedades oseas metabolicas tales como osteoporosis, así como otros estados de enfermedad tratables con compuestos de vitamina D, que comprende administrar una cantidad efectiva de uno o más compuestos de vitamina D modificados. El compuesto modificado contiene un nucleo de vitamina D típico pero con grupos hidrolizables in vivo en una o más de las posiciones de carbonos 1, 3 y 25. El tiempo de conversion del compuesto modificado a su forma activa tal como calcitriol puede regularse, para de esta manera proporcionar liberacion controlada del compuesto in vivo con el tiempo, al cambiar o modificar los grupos hidrolizables.
