Abstract

Un proceso para la produccion de ácido acético que comprende carbonizar metano y/o un derivado reactivo del mismo con monoxido de carbono, en ausencia sustancial de un promotor y/o de un co-promotor de yoduro ionico, en un reactor de carbonilacion que contiene una composicion de reaccion líquida que comprende un catalizador de carbonilacion de iridio, co-catalizador de yoduro de metilo, agua, ácido acético y acetato de metilo, en donde se mantiene (i) en la composicion de reaccion líquida: (a) agua a una concentracion inferior a 5% en peso; y (b) yoduro de metilo en una concentracion superior a 12% en peso; y (ii) en el reactor de carbonilacion una presion total inferior a 50 bares manométricos.
