Abstract

Un objeto de la invencion es un proceso para la hidrogenacion catalítica de compuestos nitro aromáticos en solucion o en fundido, en la presencia de hidrogeno y, cuando menos un catalizador de metal noble, un catalizador de níquel, o un catalizador de cobalto, en dicho proceso está presente una cantidad catalítica de, cuando menos un compuesto de vanadio, en donde el vanadio tiene el estado de oxidacion 0, II, IV o V. Se ha descubierto que la hidrogenacion catalítica de compuestos nitro aromáticos, se puede impedir casi completamente la acumulacion de aminas hidroxilicas mediante la adiccion de cantidades catalíticas de compuestos de vanadio, que normalmente de como resultado concentraciones de < 1 por ciento de amina hidroxílica. Los productos hidrogenados resultantes son más blancas (más puros) que aquellos obtenidos sin la adicion del compuesto de vanadio, debido a que casi no se obtienen compuestos azoicos o azoxi. La hidrogenacion, en particular la fase final, procede más rápido que sin esta adicion. De acuerdo con lo anterior resultan ventajas sustanciales con respecto a la consistencia de la calidad y a la economía.
