Abstract

Un método para recircular pigmentos minerales contenidos en el desecho producido a partir del destintado de papel de desecho, el residuo destintado se calienta en una atmosfera que contiene oxígeno a una temperatura suficiente para oxidar completamente todos los hidrocarburos orgánicos presentes; se generan también calor, agua y dioxido de carbono, y pueden capturarse y reutilizarse en el procedimiento; la combustion hace que ocurra una reaccion química, de modo que los pigmentos originales contenidos en el residuo destintado se convierten en nuevas formas minerales estables; la ceniza de la combustion es principalmente una mezcla de gelenita (Ca2Al2, SiO7), anortita (CaAl2Si2O8) y perovsquita (CaTiO3), la ceniza conteniendo las fases del mineral mezclado se añade a un reactor en el que se hace burbujear gas dioxido de carbono a través de una suspension acuosa de hidroxido de calcio, de modo que se produce carbonato de calcio precipitado (PCC); debido a que las fases minerales en la ceniza contiene calcio como parte de su estructura de cristal, el PCC se precipitará y se acumulará sobre las partículas de ceniza; esto da como resultado un pigmento de PCC "recirculado" que contiene un "nucleo" de cenizas; las propiedades del PCC recirculado son similares al PCC virgen.
