Abstract
La invencion proporciona un método que emplea un aditivo de combustible para mejorar la operacion de un catalizador de oxidacion de paso sobre largos períodos de tiempo con actividad catalítica continua y sin la indeseable conversion de SO2 a SO3. Un soporte de catalizador de paso se cataliza continuamente de manera selectiva mediante la combustion de un combustible que contiene una composicion metálica del grupo platino que se quema para liberar el metal catalizador en forma activa. La efectividad del proceso se atribuye a una combustion mejorada en el motor mediante el catalizador y el tratamiento del oxidante catalítico con el metal catalítico activo liberado durante la combustion de tal manera que, en el sistema de descarga, la fraccion orgánica soluble de las partículas y los niveles de hidrocarburos no quemados gaseosos y el monoxido de carbono se reducen significativamente. Los catalizadores condicionados por la presente invencion provocan una mínima conversion de SO2 a SO3. Las composiciones metálicas del grupo platino solubles o dispersable en el combustible diesel y se añaden en cantidades efectivas para proporcionar concentraciones del metal en el combustible de menos de 1 parte por millon (ppm).
