Abstract

Una composicion acuosa, curable, libre de formaldehido, que comprende: (a) un poliácido que comprende al menos dos grupos de ácido carboxílico, grupos de anhídrido o sales de los poliácidos de éstos; (b) un compuesto de hidrogeno activo que contiene al menos dos grupos de hidrogeno activo seleccionados del grupo que consiste en hidroxilo, amino primario, amino secundario y mezclas de éstos; y (c) un acelerador de fluoroborato; en donde el índice del numero de equivalentes de dichos grupos de ácido carboxílico, grupos de anhídrido o sales de éstos al numero de equivalentes de dichos grupos de hidrogeno activo es de 1/0.01 a aproximadamente 1/3, y en donde dichos grupos de ácido carboxílico, grupos de anhídrido o sales de éstos son neutralizados a un punto de menos de 35% con una base fija. También se describen un método para curar poliácidos libre de formaldehido y un método para unir material no tejido, resistente al calor, de fibra de vidrio, con un aglutinante libre de formaldehído.
