Abstract

La invencion se refiere al descubrimiento de que el índice de reaccion de la desulfurizacion de combustibles fosiles se incrementa con la adicion de una flavoproteína al biocatalizador. La invencion se refiere a un método que incrementa el índice de desulfurizacion de un combustible fosil que contenga compuestos de azufre orgánico, que comprende las siguientes etapas: a) contactar el combustible fosil con una fase acuosa que contenga un blocatalizador capaz de desdoblar enlaces de azufre-carbono, y un cantidad de flavoproteína que incrementa elíndice, de donde se forma un combustible fosil y una mezcla de fase acuosa; b) mantener la mezcla de la etapa (a) bajo condiciones suficientes para el desdoblamiento de los enlaces de azufre-carbono de las moléculas de azufre orgánico por medio del biocatalizador, de ahí que resulta un combustible fosil qua tiene un contenido reducido de azufre orgánico; y c) separar de la fase acuosa resultante el combustible fosil que tiene un contenido reducido de azufre orgánico. La invencion también se refiere a un microorganismo recombinante que contiene una o más moléculas de ADN recombinantes que codifican un biocatalizador capaz de desulfurizar un combustible fosil que contenga moléculas de azufre orgánico, y que codifican una flavoproteína. Asimismo, la invencion se refiere a una composicion que comprende: (a) un biocatalizador capaz de desulfurizar un combustible fosil que contenga moléculas de azufre orgánico, y (b) una flavoproteína.
