Abstract
Un procedimiento para la producción de atmósferas de horno de bajo costo, adecuado para el templado y el tratamiento por calor de metales y aleaciones ferrosas y no ferrosas, para soldar metales y cerámicas, para sellar vidrio con metales, y para sintetizar metal no ferroso y polvos de cerámica a partir de nitrógeno no criogénicamente producido que contiene de 0.05 al 5.0 por ciento de oxígeno residual. El procedimiento descrito involucra: 1) mezclar nitrógeno no criogénicamente producido con una cantidad previamente determinada de amonia disociada, 2) pasar la mezcla a través de un reactor catalítico de baja caída de presión, 3) convertir el oxígeno residual en una forma aceptable tal como humedad, y reducir el nivel de oxígeno residual hasta debajo de aproximadamente 10ppm, y 4) utilizar la mezcla gaseosa resultante para templar y tratar por calor metales y aleaciones ferrosas y no ferrosas, para soldar metales y cerámicas, para sellar vidrio con metales, y para sintetizar metal no ferroso y polvos de cerámica.
