Abstract
Se describe un proceso mejorado para producir atmósfera a base de nitrógeno, adecuadas para el recocido de metales ferrosos y aleaciones, la cobresoldadura de metales, la sinterización de polvos de metal y de cerámica, y el sellado de vidrio a metales a partir de nitrógeno generado en forma no criogénica. Estas atmósferas se producen al 1) humidificar nitrógeno generado en forma no criogénica, que contiene menos de 5.0 en volumen de oxígeno residual, 2) mezclarlo con una cantidad específica de un gas de hidrocarburo, 3) alimentar la mezcla gaseosa en la zona de calentamiento de un horno a través de un difusor, y 4) convertir in situ el oxígeno residual y la humedad presente en éste, a una mezcla de dióxido de carbono, monóxido de carbono, humedad, y/o hidrógeno. Las características claves de la presente invención, incluyen a) humidificar el gas de alimentación antes de introducirlo en la zona de calentamiento de un horno, operado arriba de aproximadamente 800°C y b) usar bastante cantidad de un gas de hidrocarburo para facilitar la conversión in situ del oxígeno residual y la humedad presente en el gas de alimentación, a una mezcla de dióxido de carbono, monóxido de carbono, humedad e hidrógeno en la zona de calentamiento de un horno.
