Abstract

Una composición de látex que comprende: (1) agua; (2) un copolímero de estireno- anhídrido maleico solubilizado mediante una cantidad efectiva de un hidróxido de amonio; (3) un copolímero injertado que comprende uno o más monómeros etilénicamente no satutirados polímerorizables seleccionados dentro del grupo consistente de un acrilato, un metacrilato, un monómero de alquilo aromático, un monómero de alquilo alifático, y combinaciones de los mismos injertados en una porción de dicho copolímero estireno-anhidrido maleico; (4) un polímero de uno o varios monómeros etilénicamente no saturados seleccionados dentro del grupo que consiste de un acrilato, un metacrilato, un monómero de alquilo aromático, un monómero de alquilo alifatico, y combinaciones de los mismos; (5) un surfactante moniónico, un surfactante aniónico, o una combinación de los mismos; (6) un carbonato de zinc o zinconilo amonio; y en la cual dicho látex tiene un pH ubicado entre aproximadamente 9.0 y y aproximadamente 11.0.
