Abstract

Se describe un método para impartir tinte o color a lentes de contacto blandos de hidrogel dispersando uniformemente un colorante en todo el lente. El colorante es un colorante de halogenotriazina soluble en agua. El colorante se hace reaccionar con un monómero hidrofílico para preparar colorante reactivo que contienen predominantemente monofuncionalidad. el monómero después se somete a polimerización en presencia de una solución homogénea del colorante reactivo en el monómero bajo condiciones para producir el monómero hidrofílico del cual está formado el lente. El colorante se liga al polímero durante la polimerización. Los lentes acabados no requieren enjuagarse en una solución acuosa del colorante para impartir al lente el tinte o color deseado. Adicionalmente, el colorante uniformemente dispersado en todo el lente de acuerdo con el método mejorado no se lixivia del lente ni migra al interior del lente. Además, el lente no necesita lavarse con base acuosa para ligar el colorante al lente.
