Abstract

La invención provee un procedimiento para hilar hilos de tereftalato de polietileno a alta tensión para producir un hilo con propiedades mecánicas mejoradas. El procedimiento de la invención se lleva a cabo hilando el polímero de tereftalato de polietileno a través de una hiladera que tiene pluralidad de filas de orificios, en donde por lo menos una fila de orificios es mayor que la fila de orificios adyacente. Se enfría el hilo poniendo en contacto los filamentos que salen del orificio mayor con un medio de enfriamiento, antes de poner en contacto el hilo que sale de los orificios de tamaño menor. Posteriormente, se estira el hilo a una proporción de estiramiento que es por lo menos aproximadamente el 85 de la proporción de estiramiento máxima del hilo. Un hilo que tiene resistencia mejorada y/o niveles reducidos de deshilachamiento.
