Varias modalidades descritas en esta divulgacion pertenecen a metodos y sistemas para detectar y evaluar oscilaciones en una red de energia electrica (110); las oscilaciones pueden incluir una o más condiciones oscilatorias, que pueden ocurrir en una o más de las cinco bandas de frecuencia predefinidas; cada una de las cinco bandas de frecuencia predefinidas esta categorizada, al menos en parte, por oscilaciones que se originan por medio de fuentes diferentes de forma unica; en una modalidad se puede usar un detector de oscilacion (145) para detectar la condición oscilatoria y determinar una caracteristica de magnitud, una caracteristica de fase y/o una caracteristica de amortiguamiento de al menos una frecuencia de oscilacion que contribuye a la condicion oscilatoria.
