Abstract

Se describe una composición de fibra de vidrio libre de boro, y una fibra de vidrio y un material compuesto de la misma. La composición de fibra de vidrio comprende los siguientes componentes en porcentaje en peso: 58% hasta 60.4% de SiO2, 14% hasta 16.5% de Al2O3, 14.1% hasta 16.5% de CaO, 6% hasta 8.2% de MgO, 0.01% hasta 0.5% de Li2O, menos del 1.15% de Na2O+K2O, K2O siendo mayor que 0.5%, menos del 1.5% de TiO2, y menos del 1% Fe2O3, la relación en porcentaje en peso C1=CaO/MgO siendo mayor que 2 y más pequeña o igual a 2.4. La composición puede reducir remarcablemente la tensión de superficie del vidrio, mejorar la fuerza mecánica y la estabilidad a resistencia química de la fibra de vidrio, suprimir efectivamente la tendencia a cristalización del vidrio, reducir la temperatura líquida del vidrio, y es particularmente apropiada para producir fibra de vidrio de alto desempeño que tiene un bajo índice de burbujas.
