Abstract

La presente invención se relaciona con composiciones que comprenden oligóineros quitinosos biológicamente activos y su endotoxina purificada y precursores poliméricos de quitina parcialmente desacetilados, y su uso en composiciones farmacéuticas, composiciones de biomaterial, dispositivos médicos, y procesos para producir los oligómeros. De manera ms específica la presente invención se relaciona con composiciones y procesos novedosos para producir esas composiciones. Las cómposiciones incluyen composiciones heteropoliméricas y heterooligoméricas terapéuticas que comprenden secuencias específicas de N-acetil glucosainina y glucosarnina, desarrolladas para optimizar las características químicas y estructurales que son importantes para la actividad terapéutica de esas composiciones. Además, la presente invención proporciona métodos para usar un grado de desacetilación de un polímero de quitina parcialmente desacetilado para modular los parámetros físicos y biológicos en un compuesto de fosfato de calcio para aplicaciones en implantes óseos.
