Abstract

Un método y sistema de lectura de etiquetas de identificación de radiofrecuencia (RFID) que determina exacta y rápidamente, en tiempo real, alcances verdaderos de etiquetas de RFID asociadas con ítems en un área controlada. Haces de transmisión y recepción primarios son direccionados sobre un área y múltiples haces de recepción secundarios son dirigidos sustancialmente de manera simultánea a una pluralidad de alcances en el área. La intensidad de señal más alta de las señales de recepción secundarias de los haces de recepción secundarios determina un alcance de etiqueta aproximado de cada etiqueta. Dos haces de recepción secundarios en lados opuestos del alcance de etiqueta aproximado en elevación son seleccionados para obtener un par de señales de desplazamiento en elevación y dos haces de recepción secundarios en lados opuestos del alcance de etiqueta aproximado en azimut son seleccionados para obtener un par de señales de desplazamiento en azimut. Las señales desplazadas en elevación y las señales desplazadas en azimut son procesadas para determinar un alcance verdadero para cada etiqueta en tiempo real.
