Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a microorganismos modificados genéticamente capaces de producir beta-glucanos, caracterizados porque dicho microorganismo modificado genéticamente sobreexpresa: (i) un polinucleótido que codifica un polipéptido que tiene actividad de 1 ,3-ß-D-glucano sintasa, y/o (ii) un polipéptido que tiene actividad de 1 ,3-ß-D-glucano sintasa, en comparación con un microorganismo de control no modificado correspondiente de la misma cepa. La presente invención también se refiere al uso de un polinucleótido que codifica un polipéptido que tiene actividad de 1 ,3- ß -D-glucano sintasa o el uso de un polipéptido tal para producir ß-glucanos. Además, la presente invención se refiere a métodos para producir ß -glucanos que comprende introducir un promotor corriente arriba de un polinucleótido que codifica un polipéptido que tiene actividad de 1 ,3-ß-D-glucano sintasa que aumenta la expresión de dicho polinucleótido, o un polinucleótido que codifica un polipéptido que tiene actividad de 1 ,3-ß-D-glucano sintasa en un microorganismo capaz de sintetizar ß-glucanos.
