Abstract
Se proporcionan espuma polimérica y productos de espuma polimérica que contienen un material polimérico espumable, al menos un agente de soplado, un copolímero de óxido de poliestireno/polietileno, y opcionalmente, un agente atenuante de infrarrojo. En modalidades ejemplares, el agente de soplado incluye al menos un agente de soplado de hidrocarburo. El copolímero de anhídrido maléico-estireno injertado con óxido de polietileno proporciona una permeabilidad al vapor de agua de 1.1 más en el producto de espuma extruida sin afectar de manera dañina las propiedades físicas o térmicas del producto. Adicionalmente, el copolímero de anhídrido maléico-estireno injertado con óxido de polietileno tiene un efecto positivo sobre la procesabilidad de los agentes de soplado en el método empleando la ventana de proceso y mejorando la solubilidad del agente de soplado en la masa fundida polimérica. De este modo, el copolímero de óxido de poliestireno/polietileno presente en el método de la invención actúa como un agrandador celular, un plastificante, un adyuvante de procesamiento. También se proporciona un método para formar un producto de espuma extruida.
