Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una secuencia aislada de ácido nucleico que comprende (a) al menos aproximadamente 500 nucleótidos consecutivos de la SEQ ID NO: 1; (b) una secuencia de nucleótidos con al menos 95% de identidad de secuencia con la secuencia de nucleótidos de (a); (c) una secuencia de nucleótidos que hibrida en condiciones rigurosas con la secuencia de nucleótidos de (a) o (b); y (d) una secuencia de nucleótidos complementaria a la secuencia de nucleótidos de una cualquiera de (a) a (c). También se describe en la presente memoria un gen quimérico que comprende el ácido nucleico aislado descrito en este documento, operativamente enlazado a un ácido nucleico que codifica un producto de expresión de interés, y una secuencia de terminación de la transcripción y de poliadenilación. También se describen en la presente invención un vector, una célula de planta transgénica, una planta transgénica y una semilla como se caracteriza en las reivindicaciones. Los métodos descritos en este documento se refieren a la producción de una planta transgénica, el cultivo del algodón, la producción de semilla, efectuar la expresión preferencial de fibra de un producto en algodón y la alteración de las propiedades de la fibra en una planta de algodón como se caracteriza en las reivindicaciones.
