Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a composiciones y métodos para la expresión transitoria de proteínas en una planta. Las composiciones comprenden plantas, semillas, tejido vegetal y partes de plantas que expresan una proteína, donde la proteína se expresa transitoriamente y la expresión transitoria de la proteína puede utilizarse como un modelo predictivo de cómo la proteína se expresará en plantas transgénicas estables en relación con datos cualitativos y cuantitativos. El modelo predictivo puede utilizarse, sin carácter taxativo, para: la evaluación de promotores, la evaluación de la construcción del casete de expresión para determinar cómo rendiría mejor (por ejemplo, adición de potenciadores o supresores del silenciamiento génico), la evaluación de las mejores formas de expresar genes hetorólogos (por ejemplo, mutación puntual, direccionamiento), la evaluación rápida de la inactivación de genes endógenos, la evaluación de los niveles de expresión proteica, el direccionamiento celular, el direccionamiento a tejidos, los potenciadores de la transcripción, la toxicidad proteica de los potenciadores de la traducción y el perfil metabólico.
