Abstract
Un método para la operación de un chip de cartucho instalado en un dispositivo de formación de imágenes, que incluye: provocar, por medio del chip del cartucho, que el dispositivo de formación de imágenes ingrese en una condición de error; monitorear la sincronización o secuencia de señales de comunicación recibidas desde el dispositivo de formación de imágenes durante al menos una porción de la condición de error; y operar, con base en la temporización o secuencia de las señales de comunicación recibidas desde el dispositivo de formación de imágenes durante al menos una porción de la condición de error, en un primer modo de funcionamiento compatible con un primer tipo de dispositivo de formación de imágenes o en un segundo modo de funcionamiento compatible con un segundo tipo de dispositivo de formación de imágenes.
