Abstract
La presente divulgación presenta una solución para producir mogrósidos y edulcorantes a base de mogrósidos que tienen pocas o ninguna caloría. Mediante el uso de genes recombinantes y técnicas de transformación de plantas, se introducen/implementan genes no nativos que codifican enzimas de la ruta del mogrósido en el genoma de una planta formando así una planta transgénica, en donde la planta, mediante su genoma nativo antes de la transformación, no puede producir mogrósidos de forma natural. Dicha planta transgénica y su descendencia están capacitadas para producir precursores de mogrol no nativos, mogrol, mogrósidos y/o metabolitos o derivados de los mismos.
